DUAL STUDY PROGRAMME BACHELOR OF ARTS – BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (B.A. in Business Administration)

Theory

The combination of a business administration course and on-the-job training at GIZ will lead to an internationally recognised Bachelor of Arts degree. Available at a number of universities, the course runs for six semesters. On completion, GIZ also offers you the opportunity to spend between ten and twelve weeks abroad in one of the work experience phases.

Degree programme: Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with specialisation in Financial Control; students can choose their second specialised subject.
Classroom-based training: Alternating periods of theory and practice
The practical phases take place outside term time (usually running for ten weeks)

At the workplace

Looking for that little bit extra? The dual training system allows you to combine the theoretical content of a business administration degree with practical experience in our interesting day-to-day operations. Following your onboarding phase, you will complete assignments in different divisions at GIZ, each lasting several months. We will also do our best to take your personal interests into account when selecting your work placements. Possible divisions include Human Resources, Financial Control, Procurement, Contract Management, Health as well as the regional divisions. You will be able to undertake assignments throughout Germany and at one of GIZ’s office abroad.

Requirements

  • a good or very good overall grade in your general university entrance qualification with good results in maths
  • ability to express yourself well both orally and in writing
  • perseverance and a focus on performance and results 
  • very good English language skills; knowledge of another foreign language is desirable
  • initial commercial experience (gained in an internship, for example) would be ideal

DUAL STUDY PROGRAMME BACHELOR OF SCIENCE – INFORMATION SYSTEMS

This course is geared to people who are interested in IT processes and would like to work in an international company. The Digital Transformation and IT Solution (DIGITS) Department uses state-of-the-art information and communications technologies to assist GIZ in designing effective and efficient company-wide processes and central cross-organisational business processes.

Lasting for seven semesters, this dual study programme combines theoretical and practical elements, whereby two days of theoretical training at university are complemented by three days of practical training at GIZ. 

Theory

The BSc in Information Systems covers IT and business content. You will attend relevant lectures two days a week at the FOM University of Applied Sciences.

At the workplace

Your three days a week at GIZ are designed to give you an insight into project management at the interface between IT and other departments. This will allow you to immediately apply theoretical elements in an every-day working context and to incorporate your knowledge. We offer a six to eight-week assignment in one of our field offices.

Requirements

  • a general university entrance qualification with a grade of good/very good
  • an interest in information systems
  • ideally, basic IT expertise gained in an internship, for example
  • good grade in maths
  • perseverance combined with service and results orientation
  • good oral and written communication skills
  • very good knowledge of written and spoken English
  • an interest in intercultural issues
