Attack on security firm in Kunduz

GIZ staff unharmed

Bonn/Eschborn, 2 August 2011. An attack was carried out in northern Afghanistan this morning, claiming several lives. The attack in Kunduz was clearly targeted at a private security firm, not at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, as some reports have stated. GIZ staff are unharmed.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise with worldwide operations. It supports the German Government in international cooperation for sustainable development and in international education work. GIZ supports people and societies in shaping their own futures and improving living conditions.
