World Literature comes to GIZ: Gioconda Belli

The Nicaraguan author Gioconda Belli achieved international success with her novel The Inhabited Woman in 1988. In self-confident, powerful language, she tells of the experiences of her main character, Lavinia. She draws here on her own life during the time of the Sandinista insurrection.

Her appearance at ‘World Literature comes to GIZ’ will kick off her European tour .

30 years of La Mujer Habitada / The Inhabited Woman

During her European tour, she will be reflecting on this novel from a contemporary perspective and in view of today’s challenges. Grupo Sal Duo will provide Latin American musical accompaniment at this reading to help bring the novel’s everyday poetry to life.

The evening will be moderated by Dietmar Kanthak, head of the arts section of the Bonn-based General-Anzeiger newspaper. The German translation will be read by Viola Gabor.
