The reasons people leave their homes are varied. Many people simply no longer see any prospects there for themselves and their children. Creating prospects for the future in these countries is therefore a priority area of GIZ’s work. We help achieve this for instance by creating permanent training and job prospects, and supporting economic development.
For example, in Morocco GIZ trains young people as energy technicians so that they can support the country’s shift to sustainable energy. In Tunisia we work with companies in the textile industry and dry construction to find young people training in occupations with good prospects. GIZ also promotes employment opportunities in cooperation with local companies in Afghanistan – for example, the Pakiza Dairy in the north of the country, where Ahmad Seyar Muqium found a new job.
