Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS)

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) and GIZ regularly exchange information on developments in employment and social policy in other countries. GIZ also implements a small number of projects abroad on behalf of BMAS.

GIZ advises BMAS on topics such as results monitoring for a multi-donor fund that aims to improve accident protection at the workplace in developing countries. The ministry launched this fund during Germany’s G7 Presidency in 2016.In South Africa, GIZ supported BMAS with dialogue on labour-market policy with the South African Government in 2017. The ministry and GIZ exchange ideas on topics including social policy and social security, corporate social responsibility (CSR), the shortage of specialists, labour mobility, participation by people with disabilities, and employment policy.
