Experience-Sharing Workshop on GIZ supported Technical Cooperation project, Tripura

An experience-sharing workshop was held in Agartala, Tripura, on April 25th, 2014, to showcase the achievements and lessons learnt under the GIZ supported Technical Cooperation project “Socio Economic Empowerment of Tribal and Rural Poor and Protection of Natural Resources, under the aegis of Indo-German Development Cooperation. The workshop showcased the challenges, achievements and lessons learnt under this project, and demonstrated workable models, approaches and strategies for the government of Tripura to adopt in future.

Dr V K Bahuguna, Principal Secretary, Government. of Tripura, and the Chief Guest at the event, inaugurated the workshop, which was attended by Dr. Hansjörg Neun, Programme Director - Natural Resource Management, and senior state government officials. Representatives from line departments, bilateral agencies, commercial banks, private sector and civil society organizations also participated in the workshop.

Dr Bahuguna stressed the need for better communication at the grass-roots level, better capacity building and advocated replicating of technical cooperation projects in other areas as well. He acknowledged that the two projects have enabled significant change and strengthened development initiatives, along with officers’ capacities.
