The Development Cooperation Library is intended to serve the information needs of people working in this field. It also supports the German Government’s desire to inform the public about the goals and the work of the various government departments, especially that of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). In addition, it helps users to understand the complexity of development cooperation and makes the implementation of development policy more transparent.
The Development Cooperation Library supplies BMZ, GIZ, partners, academics and interested members of the public with comprehensive information on international development cooperation.
The library procures and archives information that is relevant to development cooperation. The information is catalogued in a database and is available for research purposes and search requests. The Development Cooperation Library is run by staff who have training and many years of experience in managing libraries and documentation and in media didactics.
By improving the availability of information and providing related services, the project will indirectly contribute to strengthening the socio-cultural skills and political expertise of its users.
