IGEN organises National Workshop on ‘Enhanced RE Grid Integration with Emphasis on Forecasting, REMC and Balancing Capacity’

Indo – German Energy Programme (IGEN), under the guidance of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) organised a two-day national workshop on “Enhanced Renewable Energy (RE) Grid Integration with Emphasis on Forecasting, REMC and Balancing Capacity.”  The workshop, held in New Delhi on 22nd and 23rd April, was organised as part of the Green Energy Corridors (GEC) Technical Cooperation project IGEN.

Over 100 participants and speakers from central and state transmission utilities and load dispatch centres participated in the workshop to deliberate on the concept of RE generation forecasting, design of Renewable Energy Management Centres (REMCs) and the need for enhancing the balancing capacity. India has set a target of installation of 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022.

The event was inaugurated by the Joint Secretary of MNRE, Ms. Varsha Joshi; the CEO of POSOCO, Mr. S.K. Soonee; Director of MoP, Mr. Ghanshyam Prasad and IGEN’s Programme Director Dr. Winfried Damm.
