Built on a strong foundation of trust, GIZ has established longstanding relations with policy-makers, the private sector, civil society and the academic and research community in Europe and beyond. It also participates in networks of European organisations engaged in international cooperation. It is a founder member and plays an active role in the European Network of Implementing Development Agencies (EUNIDA) and the Practitioners’ Network for European Development Cooperation. EUNIDA pools European implementing organisations’ expertise in order to make their services available to the European Commission. EUNIDA can thus be commissioned directly as a service provider. The Practitioners’ Network is an open platform for exchange and coordination among European development agencies and the European Commission on international cooperation.
GIZ also shares its expertise at specialist events and discussion forums held in Brussels. These include the Development Policy Forum led by the Brussels-based think tank Friends of Europe, DG DEVCO’s European Development Days and DG REGIO’s Open Days.
GIZ also benefits from its network of contacts when establishing consortia to implement projects on behalf of the EU.
