Third TEEB Dialogue, Goa : 8th - 10th September, 2015

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) in partnership with the Indo-German Biodiversity Programme, GIZ is organising the “Third International Dialogue on Implementing National TEEB Initiatives: Challenges and Response” from 8th  - 10th September in Goa, India. This is in continuation to two previous dialogues held in Germany and Brazil.

In an endeavour to extend it beyond Brazil and India implementing GIZ TEEB projects, this event is seeking cooperation from other countries implementing similar approaches with different agencies. Bhutan, Brazil, Philippines, South Africa and Tanzania will participate  to enrich the exchange and experience-sharing amongst countries implementing national TEEB initiatives.


The dialogue format aims to:

Discuss the lessons learned while mainstreaming biodiversity and ecosystem services into public policies and in the business sector;

Explore the possible routes for mainstreaming biodiversity into policy at different levels, from the public to the private sector, in order to move from scientific knowledge and scattered actions to real-world decision making;

Deepen the discussion on the contributions of TEEB country initiatives for the achievement of the Aichi Biodiversity targets.


The third dialogue is expected to see participants from a wide spectrum of capacities on administrative and technical expertise, categorically as follows:

  • Officials from national governments and experts responsible for implementation of TEEB country initiatives
  • Technical experts involved in the TEEB process from academia and organised civil society
  • Project staff and external experts from CBD, IPBES, UNEP, UFZ, GIZ, etc.
  • Business sector
