EOI: Local Government Climate Change Support Programme (Phase 5)
This assignment augments the capacity-building work undertaken by the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF) and partners through LGCCSP Phases I-III as well as Phase IV (which aimed to assist and train local municipalities in conceptualising and costing climate change projects using a nexus approach between climate change mitigation, adaptation and the green economy). Phase IV focused on Municipalities in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Gauteng and Western Cape Provinces.
DEFF, the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, are seeking to appoint (a) qualified service provider(s) to undertake LGCCSP Phase V, which is an extension of the Phase IV approach to the municipalities in the remaining four (4) Provinces i.e. Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal and Northern Cape Provinces. The appointed service provider(s) will work with municipalities in the above-mentioned provinces by taking them through the process of developing project proposals using the existing material (a step-by-step guide and literature review), as well as additional material / tools to be developed.
