Call for Expression of Interest - 83380305 - Monitoring and Verification and impact assessment of installed energy efficient high-mast lights in Ekurhuleni and Matjhabeng
South African municipalities spend approximately one third of their electricity expenditure on street lighting. Retrofitting conventional streetlights with energy efficient lights can provide substantial electricity and greenhouse gas savings with immediate financial relief for municipalities. The Swiss government via the Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) provided co-funding to the South African German Energy Programme (SAGEN), implemented by GIZ for the implementation of an Energy Efficient Street Lighting Retrofit Project (EEStLRP). The programme was implemented in collaboration with the Department of Mineral Resources & Energy (DMRE). The project demonstrates both technical and energy saving potential of energy efficient street- and area lighting.
The installation of energy efficient high-mast lights has been completed in the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and Matjhabeng Local Municipality. SAGEN wishes to appoint a service provider to investigate the technical and related impact of installed energy efficient high-mast lights, guided by the anticipated outcomes and indicators of the programme. The activities will include monitoring and verification aspects and the proposed project team should include a registered M & V practitioner.
GIZ invites eligible and professional companies with local presence in South Africa to participate in this tender.
