Objective of the Project
Support the implementation of the Global Gateway strategy and the corresponding investment agenda, with a focus on the EU-CA AA as a tool to help create better conditions for quality investments
Approach
The purpose of this action is to strengthen the participation of civil society (private sector and civil society organisations) in the implementation of the EU-CA AA to support progress in the Trade and Sustainable Development agenda (labour rights, notably decent work, gender equality and economic empowerment/inclusivity) and related dialogue, and to contribute to unlocking potential for investment opportunities.
Services Provided
1. Implement of the Global Gateway Investment Agenda – Regional Perspective
2. Supporting a structured and inclusive dialogue of the private sector and civil society to deliver policy input for the implementation of the EU-CA AA
3. Creation of an enhanced business environment to strengthen trade under the AA in line with the GGIA priorities.
4. Contribute to an enabling environment for equal access of women and women-led businesses to the benefits of the AA
Results
1. Set up a Facility to strengthen the role of the private sector and organised civil society as an active actor and driver in the implementation of the EU-CA Association Agreement and the respective strengthening of environmental, social and labour standards in line with the GGIA priorities, and the implementation of CS3D in Central America.
2. Contribute to the creation of an enabling environment for equal access of women and women-led businesses to the benefits of the AA, including targeted support in the area of inclusive education, vocational training, job opportunities, professional development and career progression.
3. Untap and catalyse sustainable investment opportunities in Central America. Stimulate ongoing investment and business climate improvement, while ensuring inclusiveness of the benefits.
