Objective
The project aims at aligning vocational education and training more closely with the needs of the private sector and making it easier for young people to enter the labour market. In cooperation with educational institutions, the private sector, and ministries, the Project continues to develop demand-oriented vocational education and training based on the needs of both companies and apprentices
Approach
It improves the employability of young people by working in three areas of activity:
Private Sector Involvement in Vocational Education:
- Promote the close cooperation between public TVET providers and the private sector through an ideas competition: encouraging them to develop joint proposals and accompanying the implementation.
- Support the self-coordination, cooperation, and advocacy capacities of chambers, associations, and companies in TVET through exchange formats, capacity development, and joint activities with TVET institutions.
TVET Governance:
- Support the TVET system reform to promote its demand orientation and relevance, through the further development and piloting of several TVET system core processes.
- Support the employers’ institutionalized involvement in the TVET system.
- Support the establishment and functioning of the National TVET Commission for a well-coordinated TVET steering structure.
Vocational Career Orientation:
- Develop youth in core work-related skills and knowledge practically and interactively in vocational summer camps, orientation days, and EXPOs.
- Empower professionals working in vocational institutions in vocational career guidance and counseling, by developing their skills, and assisting them in professional development in their work.
- Practical trainings for teachers responsible for TVET exposure for grades 7th - 9th grades. These trainings aim at enabling teachers to integrate vocational education with general education through practice-oriented teaching.
Results
The project aims at improving the demand-orientation of the Palestinian vocational training offers (module objective).
Module objective indicators in brief:
- 70 out of 100 companies or umbrella organizations in the private sector confirm the improvement in the professional ability of graduates of the supported cooperative vocational training offers.
- 5 Implementation experiences from the promotion of private sector participation in vocational training are used for the further development of the vocational training system (strategies, plans, committees, etc.).
- 280 of 400 secondary school students, 168 of whom were female, who took part in gender-sensitive careers orientation measures rated on a ten-point scale that their interest in practice-oriented vocational training had increased by 2 points
