Ausgangssituation
Digitale Fähigkeiten (Digital Skills) bilden die Basis für soziale und politische Partizipation im Internet, bessere Beschäftigungsfähigkeit und die kritische Nutzung der neuen Medien.
Dem formalen und non-formalen (außerschulischen) Bildungssystem kommt dabei eine besondere Rolle zu. Klassische Lernformate werden zunehmend durch digitale Möglichkeiten ergänzt, erweitert oder sogar ersetzt.
Die Bildungssysteme in vielen Staaten, darunter auch in einigen Ländern Afrikas, können mit dem technologischen Fortschritt jedoch noch nicht in allen Bereichen Schritt halten. Es erweist sich als große Herausforderung, Schüler*innen – den Motoren der Entwicklung – die digitalen Kompetenzen zu vermitteln, die für eine langfristige digitale Entwicklung des Kontinents notwendig sind.

Ziel
Bildungsakteure in digitalen Ökosystemen ausgewählter afrikanischer Länder sind hinsichtlich der Förderung digitaler Kompetenzen von Kindern und Jugendlichen gestärkt.

Vorgehensweise
Das Vorhaben unterstützt afrikanische Partner dabei, digitale Kompetenzen von Kindern und Jugendlichen zu fördern. Dazu stärkt es im Auftrag des Bundesministeriums für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) Strukturen des digitalen Bildungsökosystems in einem panafrikanischen Ansatz. Die Hauptpartner sind Vertreter*innen afrikanischer Ministerien, zivilgesellschaftlicher Organisationen und der Privatwirtschaft.
Die Arbeit von GenerationDigital! umfasst drei Säulen: Technische und finanzielle Beratung, Unterstützung der regionalen Vernetzung und Zugang zu finanzieller Förderung. Afrikanische Ministerien, nationale zivilgesellschaftliche Organisationen und regionale Netzwerke können eine Förderung für digitale Projekte beantragen (nachfragebasierter Fonds). 

Context
Digital skills are a basic necessity for internet-based participation in society and politics, greater employability and the critical use of new media.
Both the formal and non-formal (out-of-school) education systems play a special role in this context. Classical learning formats are increasingly being complemented, expanded or even replaced by digital formats.
However, the education systems in many states, including in some African countries, are unable to keep pace with technological progress in all domains. Providing students – the drivers of development – with the digital skills necessary for the continent’s long-term digital development is proving to be a great challenge.

Objective
Education stakeholders in the digital ecosystems of selected African countries are strengthened in terms of promoting digital skills among children and youth.

Approach
The project supports African partners in efforts to promote digital skills among children and young people. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the project is taking a pan-African approach to strengthening structures within the digital education ecosystem. The main partners are representatives of African ministries, civil society organisations and the private sector.
The work of GenerationDigital! comprises three pillars: technical and financial advice, support for regional networking and access to financial support. African ministries, national civil society organisations and regional networks can apply for funding for digital projects (demand-based fund). 

Situation initiale
Les compétences numériques (« digital skills ») constituent la base d’une participation à la vie sociale et politique en ligne, d’une meilleure employabilité et d’une utilisation critique des nouveaux médias.
Le système éducatif formel et informel (extra-scolaire) a donc un rôle particulier à jouer dans ce sens. Les possibilités offertes par le numérique viennent de plus en plus compléter, élargir, voire remplacer les formats d’apprentissage classiques.
Toutefois, dans de nombreux États, dont un certain nombre de pays d’Afrique, les systèmes éducatifs ne peuvent pas suivre le rythme des avancées technologiques dans tous les domaines. Le défi majeur à relever est donc d’apporter aux élèves, qui sont le moteur du développement, les compétences numériques nécessaires pour le développement numérique du continent à long terme.

Objectif
Les acteurs du système éducatif intervenant dans les écosystèmes numériques des pays africains sélectionnés bénéficient d’un appui pour promouvoir les compétences numériques des enfants et des adolescents.

Approche
Le projet aide les partenaires africains à promouvoir les compétences numériques des enfants et des adolescents. Sur mandat du ministère fédéral allemand de la Coopération économique et du Développement (BMZ), il renforce pour ce faire les structures de l’écosystème numérique du secteur éducatif selon une approche à dimension panafricaine. Les principaux partenaires de ce projet sont les représentant·e·s de ministères africains, d’organisations de la société civile et du secteur privé.
Le travail de GenerationDigital! repose sur trois piliers : conseil technique et financier, soutien apporté à la mise en réseau régionale et accès aux aides financières. Les ministères africains, les organisations nationales de la société civile et les réseaux régionaux peuvent demander à bénéficier d’une promotion pour des projets numériques (fonds basé sur la demande).
