Die jordanische Wirtschaft steht vor großen Herausforderungen wie Ressourcenknappheit, steigende Energiepreise und eine hohe Arbeitslosigkeit. Die begrenzte lokale Nachfrage erhöht den Druck, internationale Umweltstandards einzuhalten, um im globalen Wettbewerb konkurrenzfähig zu sein. Unternehmen werden sich zunehmend dieses Drucks bewusst. Zudem formuliert die Politik ehrgeizige Ziele für eine grüne Wirtschaft, besonders in Jordaniens „Vision der wirtschaftlichen Modernisierung 2033".

Ziel des Vorhabens "Umwelt- und Ressourcenschutz in Unternehmen in Jordanienmwelt- und Ressourcenschutz in Unternehmen in Jordanien" ist es, dass sich der Wandel hin zu einer grünen und inklusiven Wirtschaft beschleunigt und die Lebensqualität in ganz Jordanien verbessert.

Das Vorhaben verfolgt dabei einen mehrschichtigen Ansatz:
- Es entwickelt Politikinstrumente, Anreize und Angebote, um den grünen Wirtschaftswandel zu fördern. Damit unterstützt es die jordanischen Umwelt- und Industrieministerien.
- Es treibt umweltfreundliche Technologien, Maßnahmen für Ressourceneffizienz und grüne Geschäftsmodelle voran, ebenso wie die Entwicklung von grünen Produkten und Dienstleistungen. Dies soll mehr grüne, inklusive Industriearbeitsplätze schaffen. Dabei fördert das Vorhaben besonders Frauen und Menschen mit Behinderung als wertgeschätzte Arbeitskräfte.
- Es verbessert den Zugang zu finanziellen Unterstützungsleistungen für grüne Investitionen in der Wirtschaft.
Das Vorhaben wird gemeinsam mit den Consultingfirmen adelphi, GFA Consulting Group, ECO Consult, Chemonics Egypt und Cewas umgesetzt. Die Maßnahmen sind dabei eng in die Pläne lokaler Partner aus Politik, Zivilgesellschaft, Universitäten und Privatwirtschaft eingebunden.

 

Supporting the green economy transition in Jordan.

Jordan’s economy is facing enormous challenges, including resource scarcity, rising energy prices and high unemployment. Limited local demand is putting added pressure on the country to adhere to international standards and be globally competitive. Companies are becoming increasingly aware of the pressure. In addition, the government is formulating ambitious goals for a green economy, particularly in Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision 2033.
In this context, the Green Action in Enerprises project develops policy instruments and supports intermediary organisations with the goal of establishing practices for an inclusive green economy so that the transition to an inclusive green economy is gathering pace and improving the quality of life throughout Jordan.

The project adopts a multi-layered approach:

- It develops policy instruments, creates incentives and initiates programmes designed to promote the green economy transition and supports the ministries of environment and industry in the process.
- It promotes environmentally friendly technologies, resource efficiency measures and green business models, as well as the development of green products and services, which will create more green and inclusive industrial jobs. Special support is provided for women and people with disabilities as valued workers.
- It improves access to financial support services for investing in the green economy.

The project is being implemented together with the consulting firms adelphi, GFA Consulting Group, ECO Consult, Chemonics Egypt and Cewas. The measures are incorporated into the plans of local partners in politics, from civil society, universities and the private sector.
