Jordanien ist ein Land mit niedrigem mittlerem Einkommen im Nahen Osten, das auf seine offene Wirtschaft und Stabilität setzt, um ausländische Investitionen anzuziehen. Allerdings hat sich das Wirtschaftswachstum im letzten Jahrzehnt durch den Mangel an natürlichen Ressourcen, die schwach ausgeprägte Industrie und Druck von außen abgeschwächt. Daher ist die Arbeitslosigkeit mit 21,4 Prozent weiterhin hoch.Um dem entgegenzuwirken, setzt die jordanische „Vision der wirtschaftlichen Modernisierung" (EMV) auf Wirtschaftsdiversifizierung und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit. Kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen (KMU) kommt dabei eine entscheidende Rolle zu. Sie machen 98,5 Prozent der Unternehmen aus, erwirtschaften 40 Prozent% des Bruttoinlandsprodukts (BIP) und stellen 60 Prozent der Arbeitsplätze. Sie stehen jedoch vor Herausforderungen wie eingeschränktem Zugang zu Technologie, Investitionen und Innovation.
Ziel des Vorhabens ist es de Wettbewerbssituation jordanischer Unternehmen in Wachstumssektoren mit Potenzial für Innovation und hochwertige Arbeitsplätze zu verbessern.
Das auf die jordanische EMV abgestimmte Projekt nimmt in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Ministerium für Industrie, Handel und Versorgung (MoITS) vier Schwerpunkte in Angriff:
•Günstige Rahmenbedingungen unterstützen: Politische Maßnahmen und gesetzliche Rahmenbedingungen verbessern, wobei das MoITS verstärkt die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit von KMU fördert.
•Innovation in Unternehmen vorantreiben: 400 KMU bei der Einführung innovativer Produkte, Prozesse und Geschäftsmodelle unterstützen.
•Ökosystem für Kooperation fördern: Die organisatorischen und technischen Bedingungen für die Unterstützung von Kooperationsprojekten verbessern.
•Humankapital fördern: Hochwertige Arbeitsplätze fördern, indem Privatunternehmen dabei unterstützt werden, Diversitäts- und Inklusionsverfahren einzuführen.
 

Driving economic transformation through innovation in Jordan
The project improves the competitive situation of Jordanian companies in growth sectors with potential for innovation and quality employment.

Jordan, a lower-middle-income country in the Middle East, leverages its open economy and stability to attract foreign investment. However, economic growth has slowed over the past decade due to limited natural resources, a small industrial base, and external pressures. As a result, unemployment remains high at 21.4 per cent, with few quality job opportunities, especially for women and people with disabilities.
To address these issues, Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision (EMV) focuses on diversifying the economy and boosting competitiveness, with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) playing a pivotal role. They account for 98.5 per cent of firms, contribute 40 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP), and provide 60 per cent of jobs. Yet, they still face challenges like limited access to technology, investment, and innovation.

The project, aligned with Jordan’s EMV, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply (MoITS), focuses on four main areas:
•Supporting conducive frameworks: Improving policies and regulatory frameworks while enhancing the role of MoITS to boost the competitiveness of SMEs
•Driving innovation in firms: Supporting 400 SMEs to adopt innovative products, processes, and business models.
•Fostering ecosystem collaboration: Improving the organisational and technical conditions to support cooperation projects.
•Promoting human capital: Fostering high-quality employment by supporting private businesses to adopt diversity and inclusion practices.
