Ausgangssituation:

Den globalen Rahmen für die sozial-ökologische Transformation bildet die Agenda 2030 für nachhaltige Entwicklung der Vereinten Nationen. Wirtschaftsvertreter*innen haben dabei eine wichtige Rolle und Verantwortung, um die Ziele für nachhaltige Entwicklung (SDG) zu erreichen. Nicht nur SDG 17 „Partnerschaften zur Erreichung der Ziele" nimmt Bezug zu Kooperationen mit der deutschen, europäischen und lokalen Privatwirtschaft. Die Zusammenarbeit mit der Wirtschaft kann zu allen SDGs beitragen, darunter besonders zu SDG 8 „Menschenwürdige Arbeit und Wirtschaftswachstum", SDG 9 „Industrie, Innovation und Infrastruktur" und SDG 12 „Nachhaltiger Konsum und Produktion".

Ziel:

Das Zusammenwirken von Entwicklungszusammenarbeit und Wirtschaft trägt zu privaten Investitionen und Fachwissen bei. Das fördert einen sozial-ökologischen Wandel in den Ländern des Globalen Südens.

Vorgehensweise:

Die Agentur für Wirtschaft und Entwicklung (AWE), ist Teil des Netzwerks „Partners in Transformation" des Bundesministeriums für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ). Es ist dabei die zentrale Anlaufstelle der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit für die deutsche und europäische Wirtschaft und zielt darauf ab, die Innovationskraft und die Ressourcen der Wirtschaft für nachhaltige Entwicklung zu nutzen.

Dafür fördert das Vorhaben die Zusammenarbeit zwischen nationalen und internationalen Wirtschaftsvertreter*innen und der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit. Dabei schafft es Informations- und Beratungsangebote sowie Netzwerke, die private Investitionen und Wissen für die sozial-ökologische Transformation mobilisieren.

Die Maßnahmen gliedern sich in drei Handlungsfelder:
• ein Beratungsangebot für Wirtschaftsnetzwerke bereitstellen;
• Innovationen und Projekte mit der Privatwirtschaft entwickeln und aufbereiten;
• digitale Informations- und Austauschformate für die Wirtschaft anbieten.

Träger der AWE sind die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH und die DEG Impulse GmbH.
 

Context:
The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides a global framework for socio-ecological transformation. Private-sector representatives play a central role and bear responsibility for delivering the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Cooperation with the private sector at the German, European and local levels is not only referred to in SDG 17 ‘Partnerships for the goals’. Cooperation with the private-sector enterprises can play a part in achieving all SDGs, including not least SDG 8 ‘Decent work and economic growth’, SDG 9 ‘Industry, innovation and infrastructure’ and SDG 12 ‘Responsible consumption and production’.

Objective:
The interaction of development cooperation and the private sector helps boost private investments and expertise, which drives socio-ecological transformation in the countries of the Global South.

Approach:
The AWE (Agency for Business and Economic Development) project is part of the ‘Partners in Transformation’ network of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and forms the central point of contact for German and European businesses on development cooperation. The primary objective is to utilise the innovative power and resources of the economy for sustainable development.

To this end, the project promotes cooperation between representatives of the national and international business community and development cooperation. In the process, information and advisory services will be created, along with networks that mobilise private investments and knowledge to benefit the socio-ecological transformation.

The measures can be divided into three fields of activity:

• providing an advisory service for business networks; and
• developing and preparing innovations and projects with the private sector;
• offering digital information and exchange formats for the private sector.
