Project Description
This project aims at an essential component of any environmental management system, namely the provision of objective, reliable and comparable information enabling to take the requisite measures to protect the environment and to assess the results of such measures.
Although elements of a countrywide environmental monitoring data management and reporting system are in place, a comprehensive sufficiently functional network does not yet exist in BiH. Activities are fragmented and in the complex structure environmental information does not flow satisfactorily.
Overall Objective
The overall objective of this Project is to further align policies and regulations, related to environmental data management and reporting, with the EU acquis in order to meet EU requirements and recommendations in the EU integration process.
Specific Objective
On the other hand, the Specific Objective of this Project is to strengthen capacity of Bosnia and Herzegovina to meet international obligations through establishment of the functional country-wide reporting system related to international environmental obligations (EEA, EIONET, EUROSTAT and international conventions).
Expected Outputs
- Countrywide Environmental Reporting system related to international environmental obligations (EEA, EIONET, EUROSTAT and international conventions) established and functional;
- Capacities of the relevant institutions for improved data management and reporting strengthened;
- Information technologies in the process of managing, gathering and reporting of environmental data improved.
