Contaminated Sites in India

Indian Government commissions GIZ to dispose of hazardous waste

Bonn/Eschborn. The Indian Government signed the contract with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) today to dispose of 350 tonnes of soil contaminated with pesticides and heavy metals. In the next few months, the aim is to pack the hazardous waste safely and prepare for transportation. A decision has not yet been made about where to dispose of the contaminated waste. A competitive tender for the disposal of the waste will be issued Europe-wide.
