"International cooperation is in Germany's interest!"

GIZ works! Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel, Chair of the Management Board on how international cooperation also makes a positive impact in Germany.

There is currently a lively debate taking place about the purpose of development cooperation and how it is implemented. The series GIZworks! showcases how GIZ achieves results – in partner countries and in Germany’s interests.

Schäfer-Gümbel states that the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH brings good arguments to this discussion: “International cooperation makes a substantial contribution in Germany’s interests because it addresses key issues for the future.“ It is therefore an important building block and an expression of global responsibility. Given the myriad of crises the world is currently facing, we did not need less, but even more international cooperation, stresses Schäfer-Gümbel: “These crises do not stop at borders!”
