Context

Stricter, internationally applicable legal frameworks have entered into force in the fight against corruption and have led to a worldwide shift in international business activities in recent years. Developing countries and emerging economies, in particular, are facing new requirements to prevent corruption as a result of this.

The Alliance for Integrity is the only business-driven, global multi-stakeholder government initiative which provides support to businesses to collectively fight corruption and foster integrity and compliance in the economic system.

Approach

The Alliance for Integrity is a platform that offers practical solutions to strengthen the compliance capacities of companies and their supply chains. In addition, it contributes to the improvement of framework conditions by fostering dialogue between the public and private sectors. Moreover, it supports regional companies to set up best practice solutions to prevent and combat corruption.

The measures include:

  1. Peer-to-peer learning: setting up local capacity-building networks, arranging regular meetings of working groups and government representatives, supporting business associations with anti-corruption services for their members
  2. Public-private dialogue: connecting key actors from the private and public sectors to foster exchange
  3. Awareness-raising and knowledge exchange: hosting of (international) conferences and workshops on corruption prevention and compliance, transferring the knowledge gained from best practice , and increasing awareness about the problems and impacts of corruption
  4. Compliance training and train-the-trainer programme: providing practical training for staff of small and medium sized enterprises through the train-the-trainer approach, during which trained experts from larger companies pass on their knowledge and experience. An online support desk supports participants of trainings in developing tailor-made solutions for specific challenges in their companies. Moreover, the initiative assists companies with the development of compliance capacities in international supply chains
