Before our experts leave for the partner country, they including accompanying partners and children) will be prepared for the assignment. Preparations foster intercultural and communication skills, hone advisory and methodological competence, and help participants reflect critically on their role as a second expert.
The standard three- week preparation in Germany allows experts to become familiar with GIZ, to find out more about their future role and duties, and to clarify organizational issues. Specific technical courses and language training round off preparations in Germany.
Preparatory courses for Development service experts are conducted by the Academy for International Cooperation (AIZ) in Bonn.
In the partner country, experts are then introduced to the GIZ’s country- specific work, and to their own project duties within the partner organisation.
