Many countries have high levels of unemployment and therefore many residents, especially young people, see emigrating as their only option. Often local prospects do exist, but insufficient information is available about opportunities for training and finding work.

In advice centres for jobs, migration and reintegration, such as those in Kosovo, Serbia and Tunisia, people can obtain information about opportunities for work or training in their home country. If there really are no local options, the centres provide information about opportunities in other countries. We support migrants returning to their home countries in entering the local labour market – people like Farid El-Houiza, an IT specialist who spent 20 years in Germany and then returned to his homeland of Morocco. He founded a start-up in Rabat and now offers schools digital solutions for use in lessons.

Our feature projects

Three young people in work clothes and earmuffs give a thumbs up while looking into the camera. In front of them is a workbench, and on it some wooden products, such as furniture legs turned on a lathe.

Back, but not abandoned
