Groundbreaking export accelerator reaps rewards for SA black-owned businesses

CTICC event to showcase local success story

Global market access beckons for over 150 Black-owned business beneficiaries of a groundbreaking South African business development programme.

The Global Export Accelerator Partnership (GEAP) will take centre stage this week at the Cape Town International Convention Centre where the enterprises will gather to showcase the remarkable success story. They will be supported by four South African business chambers – Cape Town, Johannesburg, Nelson Mandela Bay and Pietermaritzburg – and the South African Supplier Diversity Council.

The event, entitled “Moving Entrepreneurs Forward” will also double as a B2B networking opportunity enhancing the entrepreneurs’ growth potential.

GEAP was launched last year by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH’s Employment and Skills for Development in Africa (E4D), a programme funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). GEAP aims  to stimulate job creation and income generation by training and mentoring Black-owned local enterprises in preparation for  entering regional and global markets.

Wednesday’s CTICC event – organised by the Cape Chamber with support of its partners - will feature panel discussions on topics such as access to target-markets, tapping into corporate procurement and value chains, government support, and finance. Panelists, among them experienced public and private sector experts, will share their insights and guidance.

In the closing ceremony we will hear from GEAP partners and participating enterprises. Outstanding achievers will be honored during an Awards Ceremony. Four of the top achievers will each receive R150,000 grant support from Standard Bank, the event gold sponsor. Other awards are sponsored by the Colosseum Hotel and Old Mutual.

More information on the GEAP event and on the journey of the beneficiaries can be found on the
