Implementation of BPO Skills Training Programme in Rwanda

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federally owned international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. GIZ has worked in Rwanda for over 30 years.

Guided by the principle that targeted investment creates jobs, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) launched the Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition”. Under the brand “Invest for Jobs”, the Special Initiative promotes investment by European and African companies in eight selected countries across the continent, including Rwanda. As one of several organisations implementing the Special Initiative, GIZ offers a range of measures to boost investment activities that have a high impact on employment. This includes comprehensive advice, stakeholder engagements and financial support to overcome investment barriers, improve the competitiveness of medium-sized companies in Africa, and support key growth as well as innovative and upcoming industries.

Rwanda's Global Business Services (GBS) sector has demonstrated significant potential, driven by collaborative efforts involving the Rwandan government, Development Partners, and  private sector operators. This focused approach is positioning Rwanda as a competitive outsourcing destination within Africa, and it continues to evolve rapidly with a growing number of companies investing in the country, creating employment opportunities, particularly for the youth.

To further solidify Rwanda's position as a prominent GBS destination and meet the anticipated demand for skilled professionals, GIZ is seeking the services of a contractor to conduct a comprehensive BPO Skills Training Programme in Kigali, Rwanda.

The training will empower 200 individuals in 2 cycles with essential BPO skills, with a focus on customer experience. Each cycle will consist of 100 trainees divided into four groups of 25 trainees each for a total duration of 20 training days per cohort. As part of this effort, the selected contractor will undertake a thorough needs assessment to gain insights into the specific requirements of the GBS sector in Rwanda. Following the needs assessment, the contractor will embark on designing a curriculum tailored to the specifics demands of the sector. Furthermore, the contractor will provide support to the trainees in finding suitable employment, with the number of individuals placed into jobs as a success factor of this measure.

GIZ invites eligible and professional companies with local presence in South Africa to participate in this tender.
