DA, ATI, and GIZ hold Knowledge Management and Communications Planning Workshop for cacao, coconut, and coffee

Representatives from GIZ and the Department of Agriculture (DA) held a joint Knowledge Management (KM) and Communications Planning Workshop in Quezon City, Metro Manila, for developing knowledge products (KPs) and learning platforms related to cacao, coconut, and coffee.

Organized by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), the workshop explored partnerships to map out the various modalities that can be used in bringing the best information at the right time for the clients, so that knowledge can be shared and be used productively by farmers.

The DA-High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) and Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) Director Gerald Glenn Panganiban discussed the policy directions for the coffee and cacao industry. He highlighted the need to strategize, optimize, and synergize efforts to boost the coffee and cacao subsectors and increase the competitiveness of the farmers. As part of the workshop, the group first took stock of the existing KPs and KM initiatives of the participating agencies based on their target audience.

The 2-day workshop was attended by ATI, DA-HVCDP, Special Projects Coordination and Management Assistance Division, Agriculture and Fisheries Information Division, Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards, BPI, and the Philippine Coconut Authority.
