NTO Technical Conference 2023: Event management and support for hybrid format (identifying and setting up of a virtual platform)

The ‘Sector Programme Good Financial Governance’ is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) on behalf of the German Ministry For Economic Cooperation and Development [BMZ] and co-funded by the European Union. The Sector Programme advises BMZ on conceptual and methodological aspects in topic related to public finances such as taxation, budget, administrative reforms and financial control. The International Tax Compact is a component of the sector programme and focuses on providing secretarial services for result-oriented initiatives in the area of tax and development. The Network of Tax Organisations (NTO) is one of these initiatives, it is a network of regional and international tax organisations that aims to develop and promote effective tax systems to contribute to the well-being of people. It acts as a global platform for the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and best practices on tax administration matters. The NTO has achieved major milestones in its institutionalisation and frequently hosts hybrid and virtual events for the purposes of networking and peer-learning. One of these flagship events is the 2nd NTO Technical Conference.

The 2nd NTO Technical Conference on the theme of digitalisation of tax administrations will take place from 05-07 September 2023 online and in Cape Town, South Africa. It will be a three-day hybrid event, with in-person participation integrated with live stream and virtual participation.

The conference will be hosted by the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF), who are currently the Chair of the NTO Council, and jointly organised by ATAF and the International Tax Compact (ITC) which facilitates the NTO secretariat. The NTO seeks to appoint a firm to support the hybrid event management of the conference and to provide the following professional services:

  • Identifying and procuring a suitable virtual platform and other related online tools
  • Support the setting up of the virtual platform according to the needs of the conference
  • Provide relevant training to speakers/presenters participating virtually on the use of the platform/online tools
  • Virtual and in-presence support during conference for hybrid format, such as the moderation of online audience chats and troubleshooting connection difficulties for both online and in-person attendees.

The services will be procured over the course of a defined period from 15 July to 30 September 2023. The firm should have experience in managing hybrid events preferably for government or international organisations where high-level delegates are in attendance and they are expected to provide a pool of competent consultants who are able to train, coordinate and moderate online speakers and audiences.
