APPOINTMENT OF A SERVICE PROVIDER TO CONDUCT RAPID APPRAISALS IN THE WATER SECTOR

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in partnership with Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) is seeking to appoint a qualified service provider to conduct Rapid Appraisals in 5 secondary municipalities. The Rapid Appraisals aim at supporting GIZ and DWS in the implementation of the “Low Carbon and Climate Resilient Water and Wastewater Management (LCCR Water)” project in selected municipalities.

The aim of the LCCR Water project is to increase the water and wastewater management capacities of secondary municipalities in order to improve their climate resilience, their service delivery, and their responsiveness to the needs of vulnerable groups.

The Rapid Appraisals will cover institutional, technical, and financial aspects of the municipalities’ water and wastewater service provision as well as their readiness to respond to climate change. The Rapid Appraisals shall provide an in-depth understanding of the current performance, challenges, opportunities, and plans of each municipality in the areas of water management (including non-revenue water), financial management, energy efficiency in wastewater treatment and climate resilience of existing infrastructure and services. They shall also provide an assessment of the service provision to and the resilience of vulnerable groups.

As part of the Rapid Appraisals, the contractor is required to indicate potential measures to reduce GHG emissions, improve the resilience of water and wastewater management as well as the financial management in the respective municipalities.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites eligible and professional companies with local presence in South Africa to participate in this tender.
