Digital experts for GIZ

The digital transformation is influencing society, business and politics worldwide, leading to profound changes in international cooperation. At GIZ, we have set ourselves the goal of actively shaping this development towards a just, inclusive and human-centred digital transformation that focuses on people.

As a GIZ digital expert, you will work with colleagues and partner organisations around the world to deploy digital solutions and innovative technologies for addressing social, economic and environmental challenges.

A look behind the scenes

1. Supporting partner countries in their self-managed digital transformation

As a consultant for digital flagship projects at GIZ, I support governments, corporations and civil society organisations in our countries of assignment in their management of digital transformation, also in cooperation with technology companies.

For example, in the FAIR Forward project, I develop technical solutions and binding standards for the ethical and transparent use of AI systems. I also work for assembling open, non-discriminatory and inclusive data for training AI systems.

As a team member in a digital centre, for example in Rwanda or Kenya, I advise the government on digital solutions that meet local needs. I also coordinate implementation of the various digital projects on site.

2. Co-designing digital and data-based projects and providing related advisory services

As a data scientist, I advise GIZ projects on how to incorporate different data sources or analytics methods into their work, for example by drawing on and visualising geospatial data.

As an IT consultant, I support GIZ projects in using data and technology-based approaches. From the first consultation meeting to implementation – I accompany all steps of the process and assist colleagues.

As a policy advisor for digitalisation and sustainable development, I work directly with federal ministries or the EU Commission and support the piloting of innovative cooperation projects as well as international knowledge exchange.

3. Shaping digital transformation at GIZ

As an IT infrastructure system administrator, I operate the IT systems that enable the almost 24,000 employees worldwide to work reliably and securely at all times and in all situations.

As a cybersecurity professional, I have my finger on the pulse when it comes to current security vulnerabilities and potential threats. We develop cyberdefence and response strategies in the context of current and future requirements.

As an information technology specialist, I support a global network of digital stakeholders. Around the world, we work to ensure a needs-based IT infrastructure on site and promote digital transformation.
