Harnessing global experience: GIZ supports Capacity WORKS management model

14.01.2015 - GIZ achieves especially good results in international cooperation using its Capacity WORKS management model. Now this successful method is available to everyone in a book.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is no stranger to reform processes: it has been supporting change processes and complex cooperation arrangements for over 30 years, from health reform to airport expansion. GIZ has condensed its experience from these projects into a methodical approach that forms the basis of its activities: Capacity WORKS. And this method is effective, as an evaluation in 2013 clearly showed. Whenever Capacity WORKS methods were applied as a whole and together with the project partners, international cooperation measures were particularly effective.

Now this methodical expertise is also available to the public. GIZ has published a book on Capacity WORKS together with publishers Springer Gabler. ‘Our book explains how to steer programmes and projects so that the results are effective and sustainable’, explained GIZ Managing Director Cornelia Richter. The book has been available in German since November, and will be published in English, French and Spanish in early 2015.

As a federal enterprise, GIZ strives to share its knowledge and contribute to social change. The book is written in a clear and understandable manner with many practical examples to ensure that Capacity WORKS is widely replicated.
