Anti-corruption

As a non-profit federal enterprise, we have a special responsibility and are accountable for the funds we use. Responsible use of taxpayer money is therefore a top priority for GIZ.

Anti-corruption: a systematic approach

It is essential to prevent abuse of power and influence for private gain; in particular, bribery, corruption, embezzlement, misappropriation, extortion and fraud.

Our anti-corruption management system is the basis for our measures. It encompasses all our activities for combatting corruption. This also includes a zero-tolerance policy in cases of corruption. The company-wide framework, which is binding for all workforce members, is summarised in our anti-corruption policy .

Our anti-corruption activities include:

A set of rules

company-wide and binding

Clear specifications

for all staff and service providers

Ongoing awareness

through regular training and awareness-raising

Consistent action

when responding to infringements

Acting with integrity is mandatory for all

All workforce members are required to comply with the anti-corruption policy and all applicable anti-corruption legislation and regulations. In addition, they undertake in their employment contract to comply with the Code of Conduct , which sets out specific rules of conduct regarding corruption and conflicts of interest.

GIZ also requires all third parties who provide services on its behalf and with whom it cooperates to comply with all relevant anti-corruption laws. More on the compliance of our business partners.
