Web Talk on International Cooperation
Web Talk on International Cooperation: The future lies in cities!
In the next 30 years, Africa's urban population will double and presumably grow to 1.5 billion people. Furthermore, the Covid-19-pandemic amplifies the urgency of a long-term, socially and ecologically balanced urban development and participation of all citizens.
Together we would like to focus on the challenges, and on solutions and visions of African urbanisation: What are current most pressing urban development issues in African countries and regions? Which framework does sustainable urbanisation need at the national and international level in order to act locally? What are successful approaches for the planning and provision of urban services and the financing of infrastructure? What potential does sustainable urban development offer for strengthening local resilience to climate change? How can the experiences from dealing with the Covid-19-pandemic be used and strengthened in the future for services of general interest and social cohesion in cities?
