Appointment of an expert-Research and Manufacturing Backstopping

The project "Vaccines for Africa - Distribution and Production in South Africa (SAVax)" was developed by BMZ (German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development) and will be implemented by GIZ between January 2022 and December 2024. The aim of the project is to provide improved access to high-quality vaccines for all population groups in South Africa. The project is divided in two components: distribution to the vaccine roll-out in South Africa and local manufacturing of vaccines for Africa. In a worldwide comparison, Africa is particularly disadvantaged in accessing vaccines and related products. SAVax aims at supporting South Africa’s capacity to produce vaccines and related products.

The project Vaccines for Africa: Roll-out and Manufacturing in South Africa (SAVax) is a new bilateral project, commissioned by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). With respect to promoting vaccine development and production, SAVax will pursue a multi-actor approach aimed at further developing the technical expertise, skills and networking of the participating private-sector, academic, regulatory and state actors at national, regional and global level. SAVax is supporting the private sector and the academia in manufacturing and undertaking research, respectively. The project seeks to hire a Backstopping Expert in Manufacturing and Research, to support the said role of the SAVax team.
