Reports to: Programme Component Manager

Duration: Until 30 September 2024

BACKGROUND

The Natural Resources Stewardship Program (NatuReS) is a global programme aimed at facilitating partnerships with private companies to secure natural resources, particularly in areas exposed to high water risks. Based on the partnership approach, the program promotes multi-stakeholder cooperation between the private and public sectors, as well as civil society to effectively manage natural resources in a sustainable manner. In doing so, the program builds on the work and successes of its predecessor programme the International Water Stewardship Program (IWaSP).  NatuReS currently operates in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda and South Africa. This position will support the activities in South Africa.

As a global programme, NatuReS collaborates on public-private partnerships to further improve the know-how and joint impact for meeting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To this end, NatuReS together with GIZ’s global Fit for Schools programme and Unilever PTY (Ltd) are working together in South Africa on an adapted WASH (Water, Sanitation, and hygiene) in Schools partnership. The project is aimed at strengthening operation and maintenance (O&M) of WASH services in selected South African schools as well as fostering resilience, preparedness and effective responses to COVID-19 and other future pandemic events.  It is highly collaborative and draws on the lessons, insights, instruments, and tools of a host of GIZ supported programmes.

NatuReS is part of the GIZ Centre for Collaboration with the Private Sector (CCPS), which promotes private sector engagement in development initiatives.
