Enhancing the Quality of Notary Practice in Viet Nam

On May 31, 2023 in Hanoi, GIZ and the Office of the Government of Viet Nam (GOV) and the Ministry of Justice jointly organised a workshop on "Sharing international experiences in notarisation". The event brought together experts from Germany and Viet Nam for in-depth discussion on German and international experiences, and how they can be applied to Viet Nam to improve the quality notarial activities/notarisation.

The event is part of the bilateral cooperation between the GOV and GIZ, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The event is part of the bilateral cooperation between the GOV and GIZ, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Through consulting and building capacity of the Office of the Government, relevant ministries and agencies in law-making, organisational and institutional functions in the legislative process, the project contributes to strengthening Viet Nam’s legal system.

German experts shared experience in the development and implementation of regulations of the German law in connection with notarisation, such as the development of regulations on ensuring safety for real estate transactions; the role and the importance of notarisation during real estate transactions in Germany; accession to and implementation of The Hague Conventions on Private International Law relating to notarisation. These practical experiences will be a useful source of reference for Viet Nam’s practitioners in the future development of Viet Nam's (amended) Law on Notarisation.

This activity is part of GIZ's work in sustainable economic development in Viet Nam, with focus on three key areas, including economic policy and legal advice, sustainable finance, digital and private sector.
