Reflecting on my incredible journey with GIZ Pakistan

I was introduced to GIZ Pakistan through a friend who spoke passionately about the organisation. Eager to join their team, I seized the opportunity when an internship opportunity arose. Now as my time with GIZ Pakistan comes to an end, I cannot help but feel immense gratitude.

During my internship, I worked with Participatory Local Governance (PLG) project. Throughout my internship, my colleagues and supervisors have been unwavering in their support, creating an environment that fosters continuous learning. I got the opportunity to work on various topics ranging from the technical aspects of local governance to administrative tasks. One of the highlights of my internship was travelling to various cities in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) where I had the privilege to connect with the locals. This allowed me to experience and understand the rich cultural diversity in Pakistan.

Working with the PLG project provided me with great insights into the local government systems of the two provinces. The exchange visits to Punjab and KP provinces provided me with a first-hand experience of the technical intricacies of the local government development plans and initiatives and gave me the opportunity to understand more critical issues such as climate change, sustainability and cultural challenges.

My experience with GIZ Pakistan has been a wholesome one. On one hand, I got the chance to work with the local government officers from Punjab and KP, and on the other hand I developed a strong network within GIZ Pakistan. It has been a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment. I leave with a deep appreciation for the diverse landscapes of our country and the dedicated individuals working towards progress.

"GIZ Pakistan has been more than just a workplace - it's been a place of inspiration and transformation. It has provided me with crucial learning lessons", Zainab Zulqarnain, Intern, Participatory Local Governance (PLG) Project
