RE-Development of the South African Weather Services’ Climate Data Management System (METCAP)

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in partnership with the South African Weather Service (SAWS), is seeking to appoint a qualified service provider to modernise and redevelop the SAWS’ Climate Data Management System (MetCap). The service provider will be responsible for system analysis, redevelopment, testing, and operationalization to enhance MetCap’s functionality, scalability, and compliance with international standards.

The objective of this project is to ensure that SAWS has a modern, secure, and efficient system capable of integrating diverse climate datasets, improving forecasting capabilities, and enabling long-term sustainability. The selected service provider will be expected to work closely with SAWS ICT teams and key stakeholders to deliver a solution that meets their operational and technical requirements.
