Alliance for Integrity to hold dialogue on International Anti-Corruption Day: the Business Case to Counter Corruption in India

A one-day dialogue event to launch the report of the high-level survey “the Business Case to Counter Corruption – Opportunities and Challenges for Companies Operating in India” will be held at the Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi on 9 December 2014, which is also the International Anti-Corruption Day. The survey was conducted by Alliance for Integrity in cooperation with Confederation of Indian Industry and the Federation of German Industry.

The Alliance for Integrity (AfIn) is a business driven initiative between multinational companies, civil society, political organisations and international institutions. The objective of AfIn is to promote integrity among companies, their business partners and other relevant actors. AfIn encourages compliance and anti-corruption through peer to peer learning, public-private dialogue, training and information sharing.

The dialogue event addresses mid to senior level professionals engaged in the areas of compliance, legal, procurement and government relations in their respective organisations and seeks to provide a space to share best practices.

The launch of the survey report will be followed by a moderated panel discussion, which will be a platform to discuss the key findings of the survey, and accordingly identify and prioritise AfIn’s action areas for 2015 and map out approaches to reduce corruption risks for companies operating in India. The panelists will include among others, Heiko Warnken, Head, Economic Cooperation and Development, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and Ramani Iyer, Corporate Manager, Forbes Marshall, who is also a steering group member of AfIn. A representative of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India is also expected to be part of the panel. The keynote address will be delivered by Sanjay Singh, Principal Resident Representative, Tata Sons.

The dialogue event will provide an opportunity to share the efforts undertaken by AfIn and its partners to shape an ethical and compliant business environment. AfIn is an initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented in India by GIZ.
