Digitalisation is reshaping the way people live, learn, and work, impacting business models, competition, and global production networks. It has fundamentally changed the global economy and will continue to do so in the upcoming years. Understanding the implications, opportunities, and risks of digitalisation for sustainable economic development is crucial to our work as development practitioners. Not least, because digitalisation can make a key contribution to the guiding principle of a socio-ecological transformation of the economy.

By the end of the training, participants gained new knowledge about:
- Key concepts and approaches of digital transformation of the economy
- Current discussions and projects related to digital transformation in the context of sustainable economic development
Participants are able to:
- Apply their newly acquired knowledge in their daily work, in particular how to leverage digital transformation for a Just Transition and how to shape policy making for the digital transformation of the economy
- Engage with peers on the digital transformation of the economy in their own working environment.
Target groups:
The course addresses development practitioners working in the field of sustainable economic development in Germany or partner countries implementing, planning, or designing a project in the context of digitalising the economy.
