Have you completed your degree? Are you looking to launch a career in business administration?

We have the ideal programme for you. Build on your foundational knowledge with in-depth insight into the work of international financial management experts and the business administration responsibilities of heads of finance and administration at GIZ’s country offices. The 18-month programme covers a number of assignments and areas of expertise. You will be assigned to several divisions in Germany and around the globe.

Following three weeks of GIZ onboarding in Germany, you will be assigned to several different units in either Bonn or Eschborn. These assignments can last from two to eight weeks and will give you a comprehensive overview of GIZ's areas of work. You will rotate through the departments Finance, Procurement and Contracting, International Services, one of our regional departments, Legal Affairs and Insurance, Internal Audit and Compliance.

The core of the programme is a 12-month assignment working on a project abroad. Equipped with the foundational knowledge gained in Germany, you will complete a full business administration cycle in one of our projects worldwide. While abroad, you will also work under supervision on a project specifically assigned to you.

To help you become familiar with the financial management procedures and processes as well as the various interfaces the job involves, you will also spend around eight weeks job shadowing at the country office during your 12-month foreign assignment.

Public Relations (PR) Traineeship

Do you enjoy communications work? Are you passionate about international cooperation? Our Public Relations (PR) Traineeship is the ideal way to combine both. Over the course this 24-month traineeship, you will receive thorough training and be equipped for the communications roles of tomorrow, while exploring all areas of corporate communications.

The Corporate Communications Unit is responsible for delivering compelling communications about the company’s work, success stories, principles and values, both within the organisation and externally. During the traineeship, you will support the unit’s various sections. You will produce press releases and texts for online media, organise internal and external events and develop communication strategies. You will learn about the issues involved in ensuring a consistent corporate image, moderate social intranet communities and advise communicators around the globe. We will assign you a mentor, who will support you throughout your training.

Certified training and external insights

External training will enable you to acquire the skills needed for a PR advisory position. You will attend preparatory seminars run by an accredited examination body for the PR sector, allowing you to complete your training with a recognised industry qualification. GIZ will cover the cost of the course and examination fees. Job shadowing at a media company will give you further insight into the industry. GIZ’s press team will help you to choose a suitable media outlet.

The majority of the training will take place in Bonn and Eschborn (near Frankfurt am Main), Germany. You will also gain insight into GIZ’s work on the ground in a partner country.
