49th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank in Frankfurt
GIZ stand in hall 5.1 presents innovative solutions to improve living conditions worldwide
For the first time, this year’s Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will take place in Germany. The event, which is being held at the Messe Frankfurt from 2 to 5 May, is expected to be attended by more than 3,500 people including numerous finance ministers, heads of central banks, representatives of international banks and companies, multilateral institutions, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and media representatives from all over the world.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is also represented at the event. At its stand (hall 5.1, stand P2) at the City of Sustainability exhibition platform, which is running parallel to the meeting, GIZ is presenting the Delphi Energy Future Study, for which 350 experts from 40 countries were asked how they expect global energy systems to develop by 2040. GIZ is also demonstrating how innovative solutions can help to improve the living conditions of people around the world. In India, for example, it has provided advice on the introduction of the smartcard, with which millions of poor people now have access to free health services.
GIZ is also hosting a seminar at the Annual Meeting in conjunction with the Sino-German Center of Finance and Economics in Frankfurt. The event on ‘New Asian-European Approaches on Finance and Infrastructure’ will take place on 3 May at 09:00 in Harmonie Hall B1/B2 of the Congress Center Messe Frankfurt. GIZ Managing Director Cornelia Richter will join a number of experts including Jin Liqun, President of the newly founded Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Friedrich Kitschelt, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and Andreas Dombret, Member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank, in discussing how private sector partners can be involved to a greater extent in transnational infrastructure projects.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise with worldwide operations. We support the German Government in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. We are also engaged in international education activities around the globe.
