ENGAGEMENT GLOBAL and GIZ sign cooperation agreement

Bonn. ENGAGEMENT GLOBAL gGmbH and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH have agreed on a framework for future cooperation. The Managing Directors of ENGAGEMENT GLOBAL, Gabriela Büssemaker and Bernd Krupp, and Vice-Chair of the GIZ Management Board Christoph Beier have signed a cooperation agreement in Bonn. The agreement seeks to facilitate efficient cooperation by laying out the activity areas of the two parties.

The agreement outlines the division of labour in Germany and abroad and describes mechanisms for successful cooperation. It sets out how cooperation with civil society organisations and with German states and municipalities is to take place. It also clarifies the parties' activities in two fields: development education in Germany and expert and leadership training around the world.

An example: ENGAGEMENT GLOBAL is working with German municipalities to consolidate and develop partnerships between Germany and developing countries. Through international cooperation projects, GIZ promotes knowledge transfer between German and foreign municipalities and municipal associations, particularly in the field of local governance.

GIZ and ENGAGEMENT GLOBAL aim to coordinate their activities in future. A cooperation committee was set up today that will meet regularly to shape and develop cooperation between the two organisations.
