Tanja Gönner to leave the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. 

At her own request, Chair of the Management Board Tanja Gönner is to leave the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in the final quarter of 2022. After 10 years at the head of the federal enterprise, she is moving into the private sector with the Federation of German Industries (BDI). ‘I greatly enjoy my role as Chair of GIZ’s Management Board, and my time here has been very rewarding,’ said Tanja Gönner. ‘But after 10 years at the helm I now wish to explore a new career opportunity.’ 

Tanja Gönner has been Chair of GIZ’s Management Board since July 2012. She heads the federal enterprise alongside Ingrid-Gabriela Hoven and Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel. GIZ employs around 25,000 staff worldwide. The company works in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education activities in approximately 120 countries.
