Apply now and gain initial professional experience in the United States

Internship and college - Young professionals spend a year in the land of opportunity

Dream – opportunity – adventure: The combination of internship and college attendance makes for a very special experience. The Parliamentary Sponsorship Programme (PPP) gives young professionals and students enrolled in a dual course of study who have completed their vocational training the opportunity to spend a year in the United States and immerse themselves in the country’s history, social context and business environment. By taking part in this exchange programme, they improve their career prospects and help to improve transatlantic relations.

Members of the German Bundestag and the US Congress serve as mentors for the German and American participants throughout their stay. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been in charge of running the PPP for young professionals for over 30 years now.

Funded by the German Bundestag and the US Congress, the scholarships cover preparation and follow-up costs, college fees, accommodation with host families and travel and insurance expenses.

Trainees, students and professionals who apply for the programme must have been born after 31 July 1994, have attended several years of English lessons and have completed their vocational training by the time of outward travel in August 2019. The closing date for applications is 14 September 2018.
