Context
The 2030 Agenda was signed in September 2015 by all United Nations Member States. It defines 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that reflect all dimensions of sustainable development, addressing society, the environment and the economy. Mexico continues to face major challenges in these areas.
However, the country is already making progress in implementing the 2030 Agenda: in December 2019, Mexico adopted a national strategy that guides the actions of Government, civil society and the private sector. The first states and local authorities have already started aligning their development plans with the 2030 Agenda, and the Government is mobilising domestic revenue for sustainable development.
Objective
Structures for implementing the 2030 Agenda have been established in national policy and in two Mexican states.
