Context

In India, the collection and use of local biodiversity data through People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBR) remains limited due to skill gaps, data quality issues, and the lack of a digital system.

Objective

A national electronic PBR framework has enabled better collection and use of local biodiversity data.

Approach

The project develops a national electronic PBR framework with digital tools and clear processes, offers user training, and pilots this approach in selected Indian states.

Last update: September 2025
