Energy Partnership Chile-Alemania

Context

In 2019, Chile and Germany signed a declaration of intent to found the Energy Partnership Chile-Alemania. Since then, the Energy Partnership has been driving the expansion of renewable energy, climate-neutral innovations and energy efficiency.

The Energy Partnership also encourages dialogue between high-ranking policy-makers in the two countries, representatives from industry, associations and research and financial institutions. The exchange aims to support national energy policy in favour of a climate-friendly, country-wide, secure and affordable energy supply in Chile.

Auf der Konferenz „Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue“ stehen Minister Habeck und Minister Pardow an einem Rednerpult und diskutieren.

Objective

The dialogue between Chilean and German stakeholders from politics and business is well established and institutionalised. The market for renewable energy and energy efficiency is strengthened and contributes to the energy transition. Chile and Germany are working together to drive decarbonisation and climate-neutral energy supply.

Approach

The project initiates dialogue formats, technology transfers and further training courses for carbon-free industry. To this end, it organises regular meetings between the energy ministries of both countries. It also promotes the exchange of knowledge through technical delegations or expert events that address issues relating to technical cooperation in the expansion of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

At the same time, the Energy Partnership uses the network of long-standing working relationships and builds on the great interest of German company representatives in the Chilean energy market.

The Energy Partnership has two permanent secretariats based in Santiago de Chile and Berlin.

Other key stakeholders are:

  • German Federal Foreign Office (AA)
  • German-Chilean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Chile)
  • Coordinador Electrico Nacional (CEN)
  • Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles (SEC)
  • Comisión Nacional de Energía (CNE)
  • Chilean State Production Development Corporation (CORFO)
  • Chilean Ministry of the Environment (MinMa)
  • Chilean Sustainable Energy Agency (Agencia SE)
