The project supports enhanced EU-China policy dialogues and expert exchanges on key environmental policies to foster mutual understanding, promote policy convergence, and strengthen cooperation. It also facilitates EU-China exchanges related to multilateral environmental agreements, including the Paris Agreement, the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, as well as initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The project serves as a communication facilitator and implements cooperation activities between the EU and China, involving relevant stakeholders. It has two components:

Component A – Policy Dialogue

This component enhances EU-China dialogues on environmental and green economy policies. It supports initiatives under the EU-China High-Level Environment and Climate Change Dialogue (HECD) and the Ministerial Environmental Policy Dialogue (EPD) on topics such as pollution control (air, water, soil), waste management, deforestation-free supply chains, biodiversity, green economy, and international negotiations (e.g., plastics, MEAs). Activities include workshops, seminars, studies, and study visits for policymakers, as well as follow-up discussions on multilateral agreements involving key stakeholders.

Component B – Technical Cooperation

This component deepens collaboration with China on the EU’s environmental and green economy priorities. It fosters understanding of policies, best practices, and innovative solutions, supporting regulatory convergence. It also identifies technical and economic collaboration opportunities with public and private stakeholders and complements Component A through concrete initiatives at national and subnational levels.
