Thai-German Energy Dialogue

Context

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and the Ministry of Energy of Thailand have been striving for a deeper political exchange on the energy transition through energy dialogue since 2022. After visiting each other many times, the energy dialogue between the two countries was officially established in March 2025, to supplement existing cooperation arrangements. It also promotes political and technical discussions on the energy transition and economic relations in the energy sector.

Objective

Dialogue between energy supply actors from the fields of policy, business and civil society has been strengthened to further expand renewable energy, increase energy efficiency and phase out fossil fuels. Germany and Thailand are working closely together, facilitating future-proof business practices and ecologically sound growth.

Approach

For the energy dialogue, the project focuses on political exchange platforms between the two countries and practical formats such as workshops, technical conferences, study trips and business dialogue. The next topics that will be focused on are energy security in supply, digital infrastructures and energy efficiency to make climate-friendly changes to industry and buildings in Thailand. Activities in these areas are also designed to connect German and Thai companies and develop trade relations and trade between the two countries.
